Senior Manager, Infrastructure Services

Reporting to the Associate Director of Education, Corporate Services the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all information technology infrastructure across the District School Board of Niagara. This role is responsible for contributing to and executing the vision and strategies that support the Board’s Strategic Plan by ensuring the reliable, secure, and effective delivery of enterprisewide IT infrastructure services.

The preferred candidate will demonstrate strengths in the following areas:

• Strategic leadership of large-scale, enterprise information technology infrastructure in complex organization systems including networks, datacentres, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, end-user devices, and AI infrastructure.
• Strong decision-making and crisis/incident response capabilities, including after-hours support for critical service disruptions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, academic staff, business departments, external partners, school boards, and the Ministry of Education.
• Proven experience building strategic partnerships and contributing to sector-wide standards, best practices, and innovative technology solutions.
• Financial and operational accountability within a multi-million-dollar IT environment.
• People leadership, team development, and labour-relations awareness within a unionized and administrative management context.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design, deployment, maintenance, and reliable operation of DSBN’s enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Develop and execute infrastructure strategies, standards, benchmarks, and timelines aligned with the Board’s Strategic Plan.
• Oversee system-wide infrastructure and end-user technology refreshes and deployments across all DSBN sites.
• Direct the operation of networks, datacentres, cloud platforms, cybersecurity programs, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Ensure cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory compliance, and AI infrastructure controls are in place and effective.
• Research, evaluate, and introduce emerging technologies into operational practice.
• Ensure stable, secure, and reliable delivery of infrastructure services, including after-hours response to critical incidents.
• Lead incident, risk, and crisis response, directing staff and resources to restore service and minimize disruption or data loss.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, academic staff, and business units to provide infrastructure guidance and recommendations.
• Build and sustain partnerships with other school boards, industry associations, external agencies, and the Ministry of Education.
• Lead infrastructure-related needs assessments and develop RFPs and RFIs.
• Implement, monitor, and maintain the Board’s IT Disaster Recovery Plan.
• Manage a portion of the ITS multi-million-dollar operational budget and assigned cost centres.
• Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and negotiations to optimize cost, performance, and risk management.
• Lead staffing, supervision, recruitment, performance management, and compliance with CUPE agreements, AMG policies, and Board procedures.

Skills, Qualifications And Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or three-year college diploma in Computer Science/Technology, Business Administration, or a combination of education and experience deemed acceptable by the Board
• IT, vendor-specific, or management certifications preferred
• Experience within Ontario’s Public Education Sector is preferred.
• Proven experience directing enterprise technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, datacentres, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and end-user devices.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and budget administration in a large information technology organization.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated technical and analytical expertise across infrastructure, hardware, software, networks, mobile, cloud, and AI technologies.
• Ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners

Salary range: $140,147 – $164,821 and includes a competitive benefits plan through a provincial benefits trust plan (extended health, dental, life insurance, AD&D), and enrolment in the OMERS pension plan. This is a 12-month full-time position (35 hours per week) and is part of the Board’s union-exempt Administrative Management Group.
