About The Position

Requirements

• Has knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations, and floor care.
• Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
• Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
• Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
• Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
• Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire.
• If the above driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
• If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.
• Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds.
• May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
• Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
• Physical: climbing to include legs and arms, kneeling, lifting/moving, carrying/transporting, walking/traversing or moving, standing/stationary position, bending, reaching forward and above shoulder level, pulling, pushing, fine manipulation (pen, using a mouse), gross/total manipulation (firm hand grasping, twisting), twisting, stooping
• Cognitive: oral and written communication, work under time constraints, concentrate amid distractions, ensure accuracy of details, remember names and details, problem solve, work rapidly, examine/observe details, analytical ability, work within minimal errors, reason (make sense of things)
• Environmental: inside, outside, toxic or caustic chemicals, dirty, odors, fumes, working with others, working around others, working alone, dusty

Nice To Haves

• Preferably has knowledge on using iPad. Training will be provided.
• Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preferably has one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or other related work.

Responsibilities

• Cleans garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports other trash and infectious waste to designated disposal areas.
• Sweeps, scrubs, and polishes floors using brooms and mops.
• Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
• Keeps storage areas and carts well stocked, clean, and organized.
• Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaners/soap.
• Sorts clothing and other articles, loads washing machines, and irons and folds dried items.
• Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as needed.
• Observes precautions required to protect the residents’ property, and reports damage, theft, and found articles to supervisor.
• Reports building or equipment repairs to the maintenance department.
• Performs many varied housekeeping tasks related to the upkeep of the facility.
• Attends all meetings as required and assists other departments as needed.
• May need to operate/drive a golf cart for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
