About The Position
Inclusion Langley Society is a leading non-profit organization providing services and support to children, youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Langley and surrounding communities. Established in 1959, the Society delivers a comprehensive range of community-based programs that support over 3,000 individuals annually in achieving greater independence, inclusion and quality of life. The Community Support Worker – Community Inclusion provides 1:3 group as well as individualized, 1:1 community‑based support to persons with developmental disabilities. This role focuses on promoting independence, skill development, and meaningful community participation using person‑centered and strength‑based approaches. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality supports by assisting with the implementation and ongoing review of personalized plans, promoting health and safety, and supporting access to community-based opportunities. Through your work, you will help create an environment where individuals are empowered, respected and supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in potentially high‑stress environments and apply positive behavioural support strategies and evidence‑based behavioural management principles to support safety, emotional regulation, and positive outcomes.
Requirements
- Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Minimum one year of direct support experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with complex medical or behavioural needs
- Strong understanding of community inclusion, person‑centered practices, and positive behaviour support strategies (training in behavioural intervention is an asset)
- Experience supporting individuals in community‑based settings is an asset
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to remain professional, compassionate, and calm in high‑stress situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to follow prescribed lifting, transferring, and behaviour support techniques
- Flexibility to work varied shifts based on individual needs
- This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle (Class 4 an asset)
- Valid Intermediate First Aid
