About The Position
Bargain Lane is launching a new Whatnot channel, Bargain Lane Live, and is seeking a dedicated, full-time host for their weekday live shows. This role is focused on live selling, similar to QVC or an auctioneer, rather than content creation. The host will be responsible for anchoring live shows Monday through Thursday from their Fort Wayne warehouse, selling a high volume of inventory with a fast-paced, non-stop auction cadence. The ideal candidate will be energetic, engaging, and skilled at moving product and commanding an audience’s attention to drive bids.
Requirements
- Ability to hold a room on camera for extended periods without fading.
- Ability to perform under pressure, handling slow bids, dead chat, and awkward silences.
- Strong closing skills; ability to not just describe but sell items.
- Ability to quickly read a crowd and pivot to audience preferences.
- Retail or customer-facing background (e.g., cashier, server, sales floor, barista).
- Willingness to take feedback and improve.
- Ability to talk and engage for five hours without fading.
- Energy is a choice; must be able to maintain it.
- Must be able to sell items instinctively.
- Must be able to pivot without being told.
- Must be able to take feedback and not get defensive.
- Must be able to hustle.
Nice To Haves
- Prior Whatnot experience is not required.
- Cautious about hiring people who already run their own resale channels.
Responsibilities
- Host live Whatnot shows alongside a show assistant.
- Stay on camera for the full show duration (5 hours).
- Describe items quickly and efficiently.
- Open bids and engage with the chat by name.
- Celebrate viewer wins.
- Maintain high energy levels throughout the show.
- Perform live auctions from the Fort Wayne warehouse.
- Participate in post-show packing and shipping.
- Attend daily debriefs to review show performance and receive feedback.
