Sturgeon Public Schools invites applications from experienced educational and aspiring leaders who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students. Through our Vice Principal Candidate Pool, we are seeking strong instructional leaders who are ready to lead with purpose, build inclusive school communities, and contribute to the continued success of our Division.

The Vice Principal Candidate Pool supports future leadership appointments for anticipated administrative vacancies for the 2026–2027 school year. Both internal and external applicants are welcome to apply.

While this process is designed as a pool for upcoming opportunities, there are currently two positions available:

• Term Vice Principal position at Sturgeon Heights School, located in the city of St. Albert
• Term Vice Principal position at Bon Accord Community School, located in the town of Bon Accord

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide visible instructional leadership that supports the social and academic success of every student
• Lead staff in implementing effective professional practice and wellness initiatives that support both staff and students
• Lead collaborative teams through evidence-based decision-making with a focus on results
• Build strong relationships by collaborating with staff, students, parents, and the wider community
• Support safe, caring, and respectful learning environments that reflect a positive school culture
• Along with the Principal, lead strategic school improvement planning using innovation to meet diverse student needs
• Support teachers in enriching learning outcomes through broad curricular expertise
• Champion inclusive education by leading differentiated instruction, assessment, and the development of IPPs

What You Bring

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification
• Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience
• Master’s Degree, graduate coursework, or a degree in Educational Leadership
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a school-based role
• Strong instructional leadership with a commitment to student success
• Proven ability to lead school improvement through strategic and evidence-based practices
• Effective communicator and relationship-builder capable of fostering a positive school climate
• Expertise in inclusive education, specifically in supporting students with complex behaviors and diverse needs
• Advanced digital literacy skills, leveraging technology to support and enhance learning
• Strong decision-making skills with a focus on measurable results
