About The Position
The Educational Programming Manager supports the development and delivery of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s (CSO) school-based learning programs, working with staff, musicians, and partners to create meaningful educational opportunities for students through concerts, open rehearsals, school visits, and other listening-based experiences. They manage program operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination, collaborate across departments to ensure successful implementation of concerts and programs, build relationships with educators and partners in the greater Cincinnati area, contribute to strategic planning, and assesses programs’ impact and reach to advance the organization’s mission.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in arts management, music education, or related field.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of orchestral and chamber music repertoire and performance practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and external partners.
- Ability to lift and move musical equipment and instruments as necessary.
- Ability to travel locally for events.
- Knowledge of federal and state music and non-music standards.
- Ability to create cross-curricular educational programs and activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the planning and implementation of non-instructional educational programs including: Open Rehearsals, Young People’s Concerts, Musicians in Schools, Education Ensembles.
- Collaborates with conductors, staff and musicians to design a variety of education concerts and events.
- Develops curricular materials related to school programs based on state and federal standards.
- Leads internal collaboration in marketing, communication, sales and ticketing for all school programs.
- Maintains professional relationships with regional and local educators, school districts, universities, and other institutions.
- Acts as spokesperson for the CSO in school and education matters.
- Informs and meets long-term vision and strategy for programs in collaboration with the Director of Learning.
- Develops and implements impact measurement tools to evaluate progress on organizational strategic priorities.
- Negotiates and administers commission, guest artist, and host contracts.
- Hires and supervises independent contractors for graphic design and supplemental material development.
- Oversees and directs educational digital media projects.
- Schedules, coordinates, and manages a year-long calendar of education events in coordination with CSO master calendar.
- Develops budgets for each program with the Director of Learning; manages and processes invoices, payments, and receivables related to school programs.
- Cultivates, plans and schedules CSO musicians for events supporting the Learning department.
- Collaborates interdepartmentally to implement programs and provide up-to-date information to assist fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts.
- Liaises with Musicians in Schools Coordinator to schedule CSO Musicians for events.
- Assists Director of Learning with creation and implementation of adult learning offerings.
- Records musician attendance and builds events in OPAS.
- Records audience attendance and builds events in Tessitura.
- Seeks out partnerships and collaborations with other arts organizations, educators, schools, and artists.
- Reflects the CSO’s mission, vision, and values in work and supports a respectful organizational culture.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
