In addition to holding a Royal Warrant, Zone Creations works with some of the worlds best known brands including Gianna Versace, Tiffany & Co., Thameen, Boucheron, Dewar’s, Decorte, Macallan, Burberry, Bremont Watches and Silent Pool, to name a few. Zone Creations is proud to employ forty highly skilled makers, who design and manufacture product for our customers. Products range from custom designed light switches to furniture and one-off pieces commissioned for contemporary artists and leading luxury brands.

The business was established, owned and is run by its founders Kevin Self and Jamie Hale; turning over nearly £4m. Kevin and Jamie are planning to grow the business further, building on its excellent reputation in the rapidly expanding luxury good sector.

As the business expands the role of the Financial Controller will not only run and manage all the day to day finance and accounting aspects of the business, but a successful and motivated candidate will also work closely with Jamie and Kevin to provide management information and business analysis. This MI is needed to support the companies planned growth, inform pricing and to support the decisions need to transform the company.

This will be a “hands-on” role, so a successful candidate will need to be prepared to balance both the strategic and commercial elements along with the day-to-day finance responsibilities. You will enjoy a broad role within the company, taking on the day to day HR responsibilities, ensuring Zone Creations has robust HR processes in place, in order to facilitate growth and implement positive change within the business.

A successful candidate is likely to be a qualified accountant (ACA or CIMA), who has good commercial experience working as assistant financial controller in a start-up or SME and is looking for the next step in their career. A track record of developing and deploying KPI’s and a collaborative approach is essential.

The salary £TBC + bonus, dependent on company performance and your personal targets. We offer 25 days holiday, healthcare and standard pension for the first year.

Location:

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining the financial integrity of the accounts and deliver robust controls and reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts

• Responsible for VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales

• Active management of cash, including preparation of weekly cash flow analysis

• Manage bank working capital requirements

• Supervision and review of weekly payment run

• Responsibility over quality control of financial transactions

• Manage Book-keeper with responsibility over accounts receivable and accounts payable

• Management of payroll process

• R&D credits, as required

• Inventory management, ensuring inventory is reconciled and accurately valued

• Identify opportunities to maximise profitability

• Identify cost-saving initiatives throughout the business focusing on procurement
• Preparation of Year End Statutory Accounts and liaison with auditors to ensure swift year-end close in line with deadlines

• Commentary on performance vs budget and prior year

• Management and preparation of the management accounts, including posting of journals and reconciliations

• Create budgets for each division within the business

• Create profitability analysis by division & project to improve future pricing

• Driving efficiencies in the reporting process to increase the frequency of management account preparation

• Continuous improvement to ensure efficient business reporting and insights to various stakeholders across the business

• Proactive improvement in general ledger maintenance and postings to facilitate the reporting improvements

• Develop systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company’s finances
• Support both the strategic & operational growth of the business, bringing in fresh ideas, innovation and best practice from previous experience.

Essential Skills & Requirements:

• Qualified Accountant – CIMA or ACA

• Good communication skills able to build relationship with customers, suppliers and colleagues

• Small to medium sized company experience

• Significant attention to detail with ability to pick up ad-hoc work

• Expert in Excel and IT proficient

• Quickbooks user

• Able to work independently, proactive and self-motivated

• Experience in design or manufacturing sector an advantage, but not essential

• Resilient, flexible and interested in getting involved in all areas of the business
