Zonar Systems Hiring for Manager, Software Development – ELD Infrastructure Job at Seattle, WA Full Time

For nearly two decades, Zonar Systems has been pioneering products and services that are laser-focused on making the transportation industry more efficient, more productive, and safer.

Our team develops an ELD (Electronic Logging Device) that helps drivers and fleet managers keep track of driver hours and performance, helping drivers drive safely, which keeps all of us out on the road safer. Data is constantly sent from trucks and other vehicles with Zonar ELD installed. This data is analyzed so that a driver and their dispatcher have visibility into driver performance, availability, and compliance.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of talented engineers in designing, building, and maintaining the next generation of our API platform for ELD. This team is the foundation of the ELD product. This data needs to be consistently provided to ELD components and to end customers who rely on it to do their jobs. You will lead the team as we work to transform our current implementation, scale to increasing volumes, and complete building our new architecture.

What you will do

• Coach and lead a development team with good engineering hygiene and systems thinking.
• Bring design thinking and experience in working with databases and APIs in scale, contributing to the technical discussions and decisions of the team.
• Set and monitor expectations and metrics on software quality
• Advocate for and track progress on technology and tool changes that enable a better product to be released sooner.

What you bring to the team

• A passion for developing products and creating and leading teams.
• 3+ years of leading software development teams.
• History and familiarity with one or more of:
  • Python – it’s our core services language in Zonar
  • Design and use of microservices in the cloud
  • Databases such as PostgreSQL and/or Cassandra
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tooling and processes
• Consistent track record of leadership, including growing and mentoring leaders, management of high-profile efforts, and experience building performant, inspired work environments.
