Position Overview
We are looking for a 2nd or 3rd year Electrical Engineering Co-op student to join the Hardware Team for a 4-month term effective May 4th, 2022. This co-op position reports to the Hardware Team Lead. As a Co-op Electrical Engineer your role would involve working within the hardware team to develop the electrical controls for our flow batteries. You will learn and develop skills such as: assembling electrical controls, preparing cable drawings, and soldering board level components.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with a variety of electrical engineering tasks
Assembly of wiring harnesses, building electrical assemblies, and installing sensors and actuators
Assist in executing test plans on subsystem controls
Assist in circuit design
Evaluate and source electrical components for long life performance (sensors, contactors, power supplies, etc.)
Manage BOM entry in a manufacturing MPR software
Perform hands-on board/component level modifications on prototype electrical systems
Maintain lab equipment functionality and cleanliness
Adhere to safety and environmental procedures for self and fellow employees
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Basic knowledge of analog electronic circuits and principles
Familiar with electronic CAD tools, Altium, AutoCAD Electrical
Familiar with electronic lab test and measurement equipment (oscilloscope, function generator, etc.)
Aptitude for mechanical assembly and troubleshooting
Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment
Must be fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Qualifications
Basic competency in soldering and wiring
Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Team player and works well with different team subsystems
Interest in renewable energy and storage
