POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator under minimal supervision is responsible for the set up and daily operation of production machinery and to ensure the line is continuing at the desired optimal level.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Set up the machine including ensuring any calibration is completed in accordance with Company specifications.
• Clean production equipment ensuring all SOPs are followed.
• Report machinery malfunctions to the appropriate parties.
• Ensure all quality checks on the machine are done as per the required schedule and log statistics onto specified forms.
• Submit samples to the Quality Control Lab for testing.
• Complete cleaning and testing logs.
• Observe and adjust required production controls in accordance with Company specifications.
• Ensure packaged materials are up to quality standards.
• Discard any products that are incorrectly packaged or damaged in specified rework bins.
• Apply approved methods, package the finished goods neatly into storage units such as trays, cartons etc.
• Lift packaged goods onto skid as required.
• Using pump trucks, transport pallets of packaged goods to specified areas within the warehouse for shipping.
• Ensure daily housekeeping is maintained.
• At the end of shift ensure all machinery parts are cleaned in accordance with Company specifications.
• Ensure all activities are performed in safe manner.
• Assist with material handling (bring raw materials to production area).
• Adhere to GMP and GDP practices.
• Adhere to all Food Safety and QA practices.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a machine in a manufacturing and/or production environment.
• Able to lift 35 lbs. on a regular/consistent basis.
• Able to handle 50 lbs.
• Valid forklift certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Able to take instruction and direction well.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Able to read and write English to complete production logs.
• Quick paced and able to keep up with fast paced production lines.
• Friendly and customer focused attitude.
• Ability to work well within a team and independently.
• Food and beverage experience strongly preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Shift schedule: 4×10 Monday to Thursday Evenings – Start Time 4:00pm to 2:30am
• Working in cool and/or hot temperatures within the plant.
• Frequent bending, crouching and twisting.
• Constant standing throughout the day.
• Working with green coffee dust and exposure to noise levels above 90 decibels.
