About the role

In this role you would be responsible for providing a range of financial accounting services to support operational performance and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting is maintained with appropriate controls across the general ledger and business transactions of the company.

This is an opportunity for you to join a fun and dynamic Accounts team and assist with claims queries and claims recoveries banking with a challenger insurance brand.

Please note that this is a parental leave cover and will be hired on a fixed-term contract for 18 months.

As a recent graduate with an Accounting or Commerce degree, you will perform a variety of processing, record keeping and reporting functions.

Your key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Processing monthly journal entries
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
• Complete various bank reconciliations daily and follow up outstanding unreconciled and unallocated transactions
• Processing accurate and timely payment of supplier accounts
• Monitor the mailboxes for finance related queries
• Liaising with internal and external auditors
• Ensuring all creditor invoices are correctly captured and authorised
• Supporting the various operational areas with their financial transactions
• Assisting with projects and ad-hoc tasks as required
• Ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and accounting standards
• Assisting with financial reporting requirements as requested, including cost centre analysis and budget variance analysis

About you

• Relevant business degree
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Solid problem solving, analytical skills and time management
• A strong understanding of Excel and Word
• Knowledge of GST legislation
• Experience in the General Insurance Industry would be highly regarded, however not essential
• Commercially minded
• High level of integrity and professional accountability
• Ability to embrace change in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities
