You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and our mission is to make it possible for current and future tenants to live in a place they’re proud to call home.
Despite not being on the front line of our services, the role you’ll play in this mission is just as important. You’ll bring strategic plans to life and get a head-start in a role that turns paper growth plans into a reality, meaning we can make a real difference in more people’s lives. Are you interested yet?
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play an important part in the decision making that shapes the exciting future of Yorkshire Housing. Whether that’s investing in new technology or contributing to the NetZero agenda, you’ll guide YH to act at the right time and with the right support in place.
You’ll work closely with our Business Planning Manager, supporting with financial analysis and modelling, and ensuring that the 30-year business plan is updated, scrutinised and understood. You’ll also build robust relationships within Finance and the wider business.
Whilst this role will be shaped by you and where you can add the most value, it will involve analysis, financial modelling, project work and providing key insights to support decision making.
You’ll support budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes as required.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to experience new areas of Finance, as well as refine existing skills. There will be plenty of opportunities to change up your environment, build new connections and try new things.
At YH, we’re big on growing our own. If you’re right for the role, we’ll give you the tools to be your best self by supporting you through further study and providing a dynamic working environment where you can apply what you’ve learnt to real-life situations.
Sounds good? Here’s what we need from you…
We’re looking for someone who is working towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g. Certified or Chartered Accountant), completed AAT or a related degree.
You’ll be curious, driven and always ready to keep learning.
What’s really important is that you’re a people person, with a knack for confident communication and building relationships with key stakeholders. You’ll have the ability to translate large and complex data sets into meaningful analysis and value-adding insights for the business.
As well as a good standard of general education and existing experience working as part of a Finance team, your attention to detail will be second to none and you’ll thrive when working under pressure.
What’s in it for you
In return, we offer a salary of £28,472 per annum for a 35-hour week, 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays.
We also work (truly) flexibly, and believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go.
But that’s not all. We offer a reward package to suit everyone. At YH, you can claim back for prescriptions, eye tests and more with our cash plan, make the most of a variety of retail discounts and take advantage of our pension scheme where we’ll match your contributions up to 9%, just to name a few.
Our people’s health and wellbeing is our top priority, and at YH, you can make the most of our readily available wellbeing support package. This includes access to a library of fitness classes, as well as an instant My GP service and free counselling sessions with our employee assistance programme.
So, now you’re really interested?
At YH, we’re building a work environment that’s inclusive as well as diverse, where everyone can be themselves. We believe difference is what makes us stronger, so we welcome and encourage candidates from all backgrounds for this role.
(Please note – if you’re applying for this role internally, you must inform your current line manager. Full requirements are included in the attached job description).
Applications for this role will close on 17/01/2022. If a competitive candidate pool is identified, we reserve the right to close the role early, therefore, we would encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
