About the Role
As a School Holiday Program Educator you will be responsible for providing quality care, recreational and educational experiences for children participating in the programs based at Ashburton Recreation Centre and Boroondara Sports Complex.
Educators require all sorts of skills and attributes but most of all you need to be passionate about primary school-aged children and supporting them through middle childhood.
The Educator will enjoy working in a team based environment and have a genuine concern for and interest in the wellbeing and educational needs of children. They will assist in planning for and organising challenging and stimulating programs and activities for children aged 5-12 years.

This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $29 – $33 per hour and we are looking for staff who can make themselves available across multiple school holiday programs throughout the year.

About you
We are looking for people with different skills to make a positive impact on our program. As a School Holiday Program Educator you will:

• Create a welcoming atmosphere by engaging all people in a friendly and approachable manner
• Work within a team of educators to ensure the care and adequate supervision of all children & undertake headcounts every half an hour, and as required, especially on excursions
• Be punctual in both attendance on shift and attendance at staff meetings
• Ensure you work within all regulatory, compliance and YMCA operational requirements for excellent service delivery
• Maintain the integrity of the YMCA in all aspects of carrying out your duties of employment and work within all YMCA policy guidelines and procedures
• Demonstrate experience, passion and enthusiasm for working with young children while delivering a program in line with current pedagogies
• Have excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to delegate, prioritise and ensure a consistently high-quality service experience for all children and families

If you have an interest or a skill in a certain area we want you to bring it into our program! It could be a sport, dance, drama, cooking, visual art, gardening, fitness, creative writing or anything else you wish to share with children!

Qualifications
Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications

• Be working towards or hold a child related qualification: Early Childhood, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Outdoor Education, Human Movement, Youth and Community Services etc or hold a Cert III or Diploma in Children’s services or Outside School Hours Care.
• Have a passion for children and a keen interest in their development
• Hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check.
• First Aid/CPR/Asthma/Anaphylaxis or willingness to obtain.
