The Accounting Manager is a hands-on position responsible for accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and implementing internal control. This position is responsible for managing and training the General Ledger Accountants and AP Accountant Assistants.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking partial remote work. This position is in office only 2-3 days per week with the balance of time working from home.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

• 5+ years of not-for-profit cash, revenue, and grants experience at a manager level

• Relevant experience in supervising staff of 2 or more

• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and Single Audits

• Familiarity with accounting programs and software, advanced Excel knowledge; experience and knowledge of NetSuite a plus

• Outstanding problem-solving skills

• Organization and prioritization skills with great attention to detail, accuracy

• Trustworthy with strong work ethic

• Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues

• Must be able to work normal business hours including additional hours required during month-end, audit, and year-end periods

• Work well under pressure

• Thrive in work environment that is deadline sensitive

Essential Functions

• Lead the monthly closing of the Association’s accounting ledger
• Participate in and provide significant and necessary support for the annual audits, ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, State and other related regulations, statutes, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and policies and procedures
• Ensures that all accounting records and reconciliations are prepared and maintained in accordance with independent auditing standards
• Prepares various schedules for the 990 form
• In collaboration with Controller manages day-to-day accounting function including resource distribution between reliable transaction processing and business analysis
• Oversee the completion of the delegated tasks required to complete month end and year end closing including cut-off procedures, account reconciliations, roll forwards and journal entries
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Assign workloads and monitor job results. Effectively delegate to staff to ensure equitable distribution of workload and cross-training.
• Represents Accounting Department with internal and external business partners and customers as requested by Controller
• Performs general accounting functions inherent in the operations of an accounting department, including the preparation of schedules and other analytical reports as requested
• Reviews and monitors employee expense reimbursements
• Oversees and ensures review of all General Ledger entries submitted by branches are accurate and have sufficient supporting documents
• Oversees and ensures monthly reconciliation of Campaign receivables and monitoring of campaign income
• Oversees monthly preparation and filing of sales tax, hotel and parking taxes
• Oversees and ensures annual preparation and filing of property exemptions and tax filings
• Oversees and ensures proper documentation of all Fixed Asset additions
• Assists the Controller in facilitating change management as needed to help Association meet continuously evolving business challenges and opportunities
• Coordinates functional coverage for accounting staff time-off due to vacation, illness and other time-off situations
• Maintain a working knowledge of and provide guidance and assistance to branch team members in the interpretation of grant agreements, federal grant circulars including Uniform Guidance, GAAP and policies and procedures
• Maintain strong relationships with existing grantors, government agencies and external auditors
• Work closely with branches and other departments to understand the nature of funding or revenue sources to ensure all documentation complies with applicable Federal, State and other related regulations, statutes, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and policies and procedures
• Oversee and responsible for the completion of the Single Audits
• Complete all mandatory Talent LMS safety training and Y-USA e-Learning before the first shift in the facility
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
