YMCA DownsLink Group is a formation of local YMCAs across Sussex and Surrey. We are a charity working to transform the lives of vulnerable young people across Sussex and Surrey. We work to prevent youth homelessness and provide a home to 763 young people every night. We reach a further 10,000 young people and their families through our other key services, such as counselling, support and advice, mediation and youth work, so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive.
The Role
We are looking for a permanent, full time (37 hours per week) Finance Assistant to join our busy finance team. This role will involve you managing all aspects of the purchase ledger, dealing with queries both internally and externally and supporting the services across the organisation. You will process invoices through the finance system using the charity’s AI software, send invoices for approval and produce a suggested payment run on a weekly basis. You will also manage the finance mailbox on a daily basis and deal with both purchase and payment requests and any other general queries. Your workload will be shared with another finance assistant.
Your expected working pattern will be 9.00 – 5.00 from Monday to Thursday and 9.00 – 4.30 on Fridays. This role is hybrid and involves a combination of work from home and office-based work. Much of the induction period will be office-based.
Who You Are
We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant with a great knowledge of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. You will need to be able to use your own initiative and work as part of team. You must have experience within a finance department, possess good computer skills and be proficient in Excel. Confidence in both written and verbal communication is essential.
