POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the AED HS-EHS, oversees and directs the planning, organizing, and implementation of HS-EHS centers & education services for children. Education services contribute to the increased social competence in children and the recognition and enhancement of parents as the primary educators of their children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Recruit, hire, train, support, schedule, supervise, evaluate & develop, staff, complying with applicable laws and regulations.
2. Provide skill development and mentoring to staff progressing in their position by performing on-the-job technical assistance and mentoring of specific skills and competence.
3. Facilitate the development, implementation, and coordination of internal support or action plans with teachers and supervisors based on classroom monitoring and observations.
4. Develop, prepare, coordinate, and maintain relevant meetings, training and professional development activities as assigned by AED EHS/HS.
5. Develop and maintain knowledge of best practices in fields of early childhood education, early childhood special education, and early childhood mental health and disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to staff.
6. Develop and disseminates information and resources related to early childhood to support teachers, classrooms, and program quality improvement efforts.
7. Provide support services and/or coordination of children’s transition plans (internal transitions, EHS to HS, and transition to kindergarten).
8. Provide guidance and support to staff with implementation of curriculum/individualization plans and ongoing assessments.
9. Communicate regularly and effectively to build trust with AED-EHS/HS, direct service staff, and consultants.
10. Support classroom and program monitoring through site visits, classroom observations, review of electronic records, and work groups. Helps assess classroom and program needs and assists with planning strategies for system/process improvement and/or development in the areas of early childhood education, disabilities, and mental health.
11. Provide ongoing quality assistance to address children’s challenging behaviors and sensory needs.
12. Provide follow-up on behavior referrals, develops, and monitors internal behavior plans, and supports data collection of challenging behaviors.
13. Coordinate and monitor child and/or family referrals to early childhood special education or mental health services.
14. Participate in child/family integrated service meeting/staffing.
15. Plan for parent meetings/events and training as assigned by AED EHS/HS.
16. Participate in regional meetings as requested.
17. Assess the implementation of the organization’s work plan to ensure the program/content goals and objectives are met.
18. Promote continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts for the organization.
19. Identify & assure remediation of any federal, state, local non-compliances or risk management health & safety concerns found in Ongoing Monitoring and self-assessment and incorporates recommendations into planning for the improvement of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum Bachelors or prefer advanced degree in early childhood education or child development; or a Bachelors’ or advanced degree in education with a Pre-K certification or advanced degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience.
Experience:
1. At least 1-year experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start (or comparable child development programs), early childhood education, and developmentally appropriate practice.
2. At least 1-year experience in collaborating with parents in the education of their children.
3. Experience using abstract reasoning, problem solving, planning, and analytical skills in training, evaluation, and program development.
4. Experience with the supervision of management positions.
5. Experience conducting meetings and training sessions.
6. Experience preparing reports that are clear, complete, comprehensive, and use good grammar and punctuation.
7. Experience working in a multi-team setting.
8. Experience successfully working with culturally diverse staff and clients. Preferred bi-lingual, experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must have the capability to engage in the physical activities’ incidental to the job, including without limitation, the capability to:
Regularly stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. Frequently required to walk; sit and taste or smell. Lift and move children. Lift and move equipment and furniture as necessary to facilitate the execution of classroom activities. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus including ability to supervise and monitor children both by sight and sound always. Remain alert during naptime supervision. Respond to children in the case of an emergency to ensure safety, such as the capability to react quickly and chase after a child if he or she runs toward danger or tries to leave the classroom. Most days, employee will be working a portion of the day outside in temperatures ranging from 15 degrees Fahrenheit (with wind chill) up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Attend to the needs of children with disabilities, including physically challenged children.
