Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive General Manager Finance, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The Manager, Financial Accounting is responsible for the financial reporting requirements for the entities owned and managed by Yancoal Australia.

The role will require you to:

• Co-ordinate and review the preparation of the Yancoal Australia annual and half year general purpose financial reports, special purpose financial reports including joint venture financial statements, a monthly PRC group reporting pack and various other reports and schedules.
• Prepare timely monthly trial balances for corporate entities and assist with the consolidated monthly management report.
• Prepare general ledger reconciliations for corporate entities on a timely basis.
• Identify changes in financial reporting standards that affect the Group and implementing those changes, through training, policies or procedures.
• Develop all accounting policies and procedures for the Group.
• Coordinate and work with the tax team in tax planning and in preparation of half-year and annual financial reports, especially to identify accurate accounting affects for tax treatment.
• Coordinate and work with the company secretary in compliance with ASX listing rules.
• Provide feedback to the management reporting team as required to ensure understanding of the Group’s financial reporting policies and practices.
• Take the lead role in arranging the annual audit and half-year review and attend Audit Committee meetings as required to assist CFO in understanding the Group’s financial results, accounting policies and taxation status.
• Providing specialist financial accounting advice to the Group on an ongoing basis or in relation to specific transactions including mergers and acquisitions.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

• Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant qualification.
• At least 5 years’ experience in financial reporting at a senior level.
• Strong knowledge and experience in IFRS and AASB accounting and annual and half year review process for an ASX listed group of companies.
• Good knowledge of Australian tax law.

Skills:

• Exposure to the mining industry.
• Financial reporting skills.

Experience:

• Experience in a similar role with a large Corporation
• Team leader experience
• Experience with designing financial reporting systems and the continuous improvement of systems
• Experience in FI/CO of SAP
