XTL Transport, Logistics, Distribution Hiring for Driver Liaison Full Time

This position is recognized as one point of contact for all drivers. This person is responsible for improving and maintaining good labor relations with drivers and owner operators and to resolve any conflict or concern of the driving force. This person is also responsible for monitoring productivity, identify and make recommendations for areas in which the Company can improve the effectiveness of the fleet and the success of our Driving Force. They will be involved responsible for making the bridge between Operation in the Office and Operations on the ground (Varennes), Safety on the administrative side and will be responsible to guide the drivers in the operational components necessary to succeed at XTL. They will also follow their progress to ensure success is realized. Experienced with operations, the successful candidate would be a strong communicator and solution focused on day to day issues. This person is also responsible for the driver’s or the owner operator’s performance and focus on and improving retention. Communicating and relaying area for improvement on both Office and ground. The position needs to be available to fix daily issues with drivers, answer question they can and follow up with the answers of the questions they can’t answer by finding the different answers from different department

Responsibilities:

1. Drivers relations

• Manage a group of drivers in relation to and support of operation objectives
• Support drivers in their day to day task by being a facilitator, a coach and a teacher.
• Morale in yard to management while suggesting suggestions
• Take lead for special projects (I.E. Driver appreciation week, barbecues, team building activities, etc.)
  • As a team, the Driver Manager and Driver Liaison will monitor attendance to maximize it

2. Respect of policies, programs, procedures, and practices

• Apply rules according to the collective agreement and company programs, procedures, policies, DOT and HOS legislation
• Monitor performance and coach drivers to achieve success at XTL
• Support Safety and other departments on the administration side.
• Start the progressive discipline chain in accordance with the company policy and Operation Manager

3. Communication Responsibilities

• Pro-actively communicate concerns with service issues to team members and participate in resolution
• Communicate to Operations Manager any roadblocks or discrepancies regarding Driver Force performance
• Deal with satellite messages promptly and efficiently, forwarding or following-up on all those that need it
• Record and on areas of concern (i.e.: excessive costs, ineffective planning standards, etc.)

4. Other Responsibilities

• Support and replace other staff as needed
• Any other duties assigned by management

Skills & Abilities

• Minimum of three years of experience in a related job
• Bilingual in both official languages- French and English
• Excellent geographical knowledge of both USA and Canada considered an asset
• Strong communication skills
• Strong Negotiating skills
