The role is for a Data & Software Maintenance Engineer to join our existing team supporting our market-leading leisure software product set.

You will provide technical backup to the Helpdesk, working across a range of technologies to troubleshoot complex problems, including SQL, C# and Javascript. Additionally, you will be supporting the development team.

You will be trained if necessary, but you will eventually be expected to perform the following job functions:

• 
  Software bug fixes – Identifying, replicating and fixing software bugs within the Legend Product.
• 
  Ad-hoc data admin script writer – Write complex T-SQL scripts to manipulate and alter customer data stored in databases.
• 
  Problem Ticket management – Create, update and manage problem tickets and VSO items from creation to problem fixed.
• 
  Software support queries – Instruct staff and customers on use of the Legend product.

You will be able to demonstrate competence in some of the following skills:

Software bug fixes

• Investigate reported bugs that are forward from customers and internal staff.
• Create precise replication steps for software bugs in a logic and easy to understand format.
• Communicate with development and Product teams to find the best approach to bug fixes.
• Fix software bugs after replication of bug is confirmed.
• Forward more advanced bug fixes to development teams, including technical investigation summaries to speed up bug fix turn around.
• Commit bug fixes to development, hotfix, and release software versioning branches, using both SVN and GIT.
• Write T-SQL script to fix broken customer data as the result of a software bug.

Ad-hoc data admin script writer

• Create T-SQL scripts to manipulate and alter customer data.
• Communicate with internal staff and customers what outcome they expect from completion of a data admin script.
• Test data admin script in non-live copies of customer databases.
• Deploy completed scripts to live customer databases.

Problem Ticket Management

• Create software bug problem tickets after completing initial investigation.
• Liaise with First Line support on tickets forward to Data & Software Maintenance, if needed give advice on how either they or the customer can implement a fix themselves. This includes passing tickets back to First Line once the reported issue has been fixed.
• Diagnosing customer Restful API integrations issues, using Postman and Swagger.
• Tracking, managing and creating SSL certificates for internal and customer websites. This includes domain purchasing, transferring and updating DNS records.
