Lead Software Quality Engineer – XLN Telecom
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Software Quality Engineer to become part of our growing development department, overseeing and leading our talented QA team. Essential skills & Responsibilities:
Extensive hands-on test experience within Agile projects, with a strong understanding of the Software development and testing lifecycles.
Extensive Manual (to include) automation experience and the ability to specify, to develop and to implement automation frameworks and advise on industry best practice.
Experience of leading teams/line management.
Pro-active in managing test dependencies, coordinating test coverage and execution.
Knowledge and experience of working with CRM/Salesforce, Team City, Dev Ops, Jira and other Test management and Defect management tools
Demonstrate experience of working with Cloud based micro service architectures and data services, containerisation, docker and other aspects of AWS
Defining and advising on test scope, strategies, approach, risks and assumptions
Ability to work with all relevant parties (project, supplier technical teams, internal technical teams, IT Operations etc.) in order to ensure an effective test service is maintained throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle.
Responsible for initiating and ensuring the technical and delivery-facing leadership for all aspects of QA engineering at portfolio level.
Initiating the use and reuse of a broad range of tools, including open source and cloud based.
SQL and Database structure experience is an advantage
The Role:
The successful Lead Software Quality Engineer will work alongside the QA Manager to support the continued development of our internal QA team ensuring that the quality of software released is of the highest standard and that the team are able to work with a well-managed workflow, delegating and supporting the Agile process, integrating with our team of business analysts, developers and IT infrastructure professionals.
As the Test Lead you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the testing of software produced across a specific test phase, technical domain or product set, ensuring quality standards are met for any changes deployed.
The QA Test Lead will also act as an advocate for QA best practices and lead initiatives to improve test processes, extend the use of tools/frameworks (where appropriate) and support the development of test team members.
You will work to an agile sprint methodology, proposing and implementing solutions for tickets assigned during that cycle, following software development guidelines as defined in the XLN Standards & Procedures documentation, to ensure the testability, maintainability, and consistency of our solutions. Coaching and mentoring Software QAs to become self-sufficient and knowledgeable in the various technical systems and business processes. Working with our QA Manager; setting clear goals and objectives when overseeing projects or maintenance tasks. Researching and recommending new approaches/technologies and suggesting improvements.
