About the role:
As an Engineer in our payments and invoicing team you’ll work in collaboration with other Xeros to help create and deliver beautiful software to our customers, faster.
This is primarily a backend role, where you will undertake software application development on applications in our suite of Products (including new ones), contributing to new or improved experiences for our customers, internal and external.
You’ll maintain the standard for engineering excellence at Xero, continuing to develop your knowledge and skills, and supporting your team members in building products together. You’ll contribute to our cross functional environment by working towards the same objectives, using modern principles and practices.
You’ll help build and manage software that solves engineering problems at scale. You will be enabled to seek clarity with technical complexities and be able to demonstrate smart ways to automate. You’ll be able to make data-driven decisions that will release value early to solve Xero customers’ problems more effectively.

As a Software Engineer you will

    • Use your amazing skills to break down complex problems and find simple solutions
    • Contribute significantly to the scale and design of back-end infrastructure and code to our Xero cloud software platform hosted in AWS

Ideally, your technical took-box will include

    • In-depth knowledge of the C# language and .NET fundamentals, including ASP.NET & Web API.
    • Experience using build and deploy tools and processes to get your creations into production
    • The ability to develop scalable software against large relational databases, and an understanding of NoSQL databases
    • Eager to dig in and get going with a wide variety of top industry tools and frameworks for building scalable apps, think .NET Core, React, Kubernetes, Redis, SQS and the AWS platform
    • Working knowledge of complex architecture designs that support scalable and maintainable software solutions

Total compensation for this role includes a base salary of $125000 – $133000, commensurate with experience, plus an annual grant of Xero shares, calculated as a percentage of base salary. In addition to base salary and long-term incentive, this position also has variable compensation/commission.
