The Senior School engages with and educates students across Years 7 to 12, including residential (boarding) students. The Junior School (Burke Hall) educates students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The scope of this position of leadership is across Years 5 – 8.

Some of the key responsibilities are to drive continuous improvement of the Religious Education curriculum for Years 5 – 8, to support the transition of Religious Education as faith formation and as an academic subject, and oversee the formation and delivery of units around the big topic of belief and it’s related questions.

Selection Criteria

• Appropriate qualifications and experience for leading the Religious Education learning area across Years 5 – 8, enabling reflective conversations that explore and practice contemporary approaches to to pedagogy, student learning, sourcing and sharing literature, research and experiences that will contribute to the ongoing development of capacity in effective teaching practice across the learning area
• Accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic School (preferred)
• A commitment to educating children in Catholic Faith and Identity in a Jesuit school
• Demonstrated ability to demonstrate and foster collaboration and effective teamwork with other leaders resulting in an aligned and cohesive approach
• Demonstrated knowledge of, adherence to, and leadership for child safety and wellbeing, the Child Safe Standards and an exceptional culture of child safety
• Ability to contribute to a dynamic learning environment that values reflective practice, constructive feedback, data utilisation, collaboration and alignment, with attention to universal standards, expectations and effective performance, planning mechanisms and a coaching approach in a manner consistent with Ignatian values
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of current educational trends in Religious Education across Years 5 – 8 and more broadly across the school.
• Ability to develop, cultivate and maintain professional relationships with staff and in the wider school community.
