What you’ll deliver

• Financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting functions
• Manage the financial and accounting responsibilities of the Council, including financial modelling, cash flow management, and compliance with the applicable taxation and other financial policies and legislations, and deliver on key outcomes.
• High level of service to internal and external customers and stakeholders, including provide advice to council to assist in the formulation and review of Council’s finance and accounting policies.
• Provide financial advice, assistance and training to other Council business units.

What you’ll bring

• Ability to understand and interpret legislations, Acts and Accounting standards and the ability to apply this knowledge to the position objectives.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting, with exposure to budgeting, forecasting, internal and external reporting, taxation, cash management and auditing.
• Proficient in the use of computerised financial systems, and Microsoft Office products and large database systems.
• Completion of a tertiary qualification in Commerce/Accounting or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience
• Achieved or undertaking to gain membership to the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants or Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants.
• A positive, curious and flexible mind
