The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our Sydney office. You will play a key role in supporting various accounting functions within our Australian business, reporting to our Finance Manager.

What you’ll do:

• Processing of banking transactions and reconciliation on a weekly basis
• Assist the finance team with cash management activities
• Liaising with the AR and AP functions to ensure transactions are accurately processed
• Checking and reporting daily bank balances of the group
• Distribution of payment approvals required for daily banking to banking approvers
• Monthly reconciliation of intercompany balances held within the Australian group with international related parties
• Receiving and obtaining approvals for intercompany charges received
• Liaising with cost centre and project owners to resolve issues and discrepancies related to intercompany transactions
• Cash collection from international related parties for amounts owing on a monthly basis
• Continuous improvement to the intercompany process in accordance with WSP Group policy
• Journal entries and adjustments in the company accounting system (Unit 4 Business World) as requiredAssisting the accounting team with general accounting duties when needed
• Assisting with monthly Joint Venture accounting and administration, BAS calculation, management accounts reporting

What we’ll love about you:

• Experience in an accounting practice, or combined with commercial experience in an accounting team
• Proficiency with Excel
• Working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
• Knowledge of financial reporting tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Accounting
• Working towards CPA or CA status
