The Opportunity

We are looking to hire a Software Engineer to join our growing team based in any of our offices nationally or remotely anywhere in Australia. You will be joining a team working on complex web applications with advanced, real time frontends and backends, integrating and processing hundreds of millions of data points daily. The primary responsibilities of the role include:

• Creating user interfaces that ensure end-users can achieve their goals in a simple and enjoyable way.
• Researching and driving the adoption of new development technologies.
• Designing, building, testing and deploying complex, multi-component JavaScript/Python applications to global clients.
• Working in a fast-moving team of smart technology professionals.
• Working face to face with clients and business analysts to provide a technical perspective on product decisions.

Some of the key projects we’ve recently completed:

• 
  Newcastle City Intelligent Platform – a smart data brokerage and visualisation platform designed to make smart city data available to all staff within Newcastle City Council.
• 
  Online Forms for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice – we design, implement and support a range of complex forms used by applicants for community housing in NSW.
• 
  Melbourne Liveability Monitor – as part of the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project, we designed and built a sensor integration platform which receives, aggregates and analyses data from hundreds of sound, vibration, and air quality sensors.   MyRo for VicRoads – we designed and implemented a fully automated, online system that provides real time and credible traffic information during construction works through the use of portable road-side devices

What we’ll love about you

The key skills and technology required to succeed in this role are:

• Architectural design of complex JavaScript applications using React, Vue or similar
• Highly proficient Python web development skills (we use Django, including async workflows using Channels)
• Responsive web design and implementation using SASS or similar.
• Source control using Git, SVN or similar

Knowledge of the following will be highly regarded

• Implementation of WCAG compliance
• User experience design
• Amazon Web Services
• Data Science (Numpy, Scipy, Pandas etc)
