In a piece-rate model that individual doesn’t make as much as someone like you who has a fantastic work ethic. In a piece-rate model you get paid for what you complete and the more skilled and efficient you are, the more money you make in less time.
On top of the piece-rate income you earn for the work you complete, there is guaranteed hourly pay for the time you are scheduled to work. We refer to this as stand by pay. So even if the work is slow one day, you are always earning income.
