Job purpose

The Analyst, Analytics & Insights (Impact Value Stream) is responsible for delivering data and analytics solutions enabling comprehensive, consistent and constant evaluation of all programs presented and monitored, and equipping users across the organization to leverage impact information. This role supports the core mandate of the Data Science & Advanced Analytics department, which is to create lasting Customer-Focused Analytics Solutions covering all data domains (customer, financial, operations, impact, third party), and enable Insights-led Decision Making across the organization.

Duties and responsibilities

• Working within an Agile environment, and in collaboration with other members of the Impact Value Stream (IVS) Agile team, partners with internal and external stakeholders to support analysis and reporting of data from across the world, showcasing the unique impact of World Vision initiatives, and providing expert guidance to ensure correct interpretation and communication.
• Supports in operationalizing research studies and interpreting results including analysis and review of academic papers.
• Supports all project result interpretation including review of raw data and consultant and/or field reports, and ensures that linkages to product alignment and donor promise is communicated properly, both internally and externally.
• Develops data and analytics solutions for managing risk, and leads economic and other forecasting analyses.
• Develops and maintains reporting dashboards, provides donor-level reporting and data packages as needed, synthesizes technical reports into impact summaries for external consumption, and supports ongoing project and portfolio level monitoring and performance management.
• May assist in data collection and maintenance of data storage warehouse as needed.
• Ensures data quality by thoroughly organizing and cleaning data using vetted processes.
• Provides recommendations for program improvement and design adjustment.
• Participates in conversations through communities of practice to identify opportunities for project or portfolio thought leadership based on current and future evidence base.
• Identifies opportunities and innovations to maximize impact at a field operations level and with customer segments and channels.
• Supports in building and optimizing processes for internal efficiency, effectiveness and building trust with external supporters.
• Educates the organization on data, reporting and analytics approaches and techniques used, helping the organization understand the principles and the underlying logic behind the process.
• Takes initiative to find better methodologies and approaches to produce accurate, timely and actionable data and insights for WVC internal stakeholders and donor audiences.
• Develops clear and comprehensive presentations of analytics results that emphasizes actionable recommendations and insights to support the development of new strategies and tactics.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum of 2-3 years of relevant analytics, insights, or data and information management experience; experience working in an Agile environment an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in international development, economics, social science, public health sciences with a focus on research, evaluation and/or data management, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in economic methods and tools (e.g. cost benefit, cost effectiveness analysis).
• Experience in exploratory analysis with various data types and data sources.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international development; a deep understanding of international development strategy, trends, and their implications for a nonprofit organization, with a customer-centric mindset.
• Solid knowledge of data management, reporting, analysis, and other techniques (e.g. forecasting) with a focus on impact data.
• Experience with data management and report / dashboard development tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, SPSS, Cognos BI, Power BI, Sisense, Power BI DAX, and/or similar tools) and use of statistical software (e.g. Excel, SPSS, SAS, Python, R).
• Knowledge of international development approaches and models (such as Theory of Change, Log frames, RBM, DME etc.)
• Demonstrated fluency in French and/or Spanish an asset.
• Takes initiative; Proven ability to think strategically and to proactively come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills; a strong team player and collaborative with other departments.
• Curious mindset; demonstrated analytical and communication skills, and commitment to life-long, hands-on learning.
