Woombye Childcare and Nature Kindergarten (WCK Explorers) is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to join our small community of learners. We have an opportunity for a driven, enthusiastic, caring, patient, responsible, energetic, professional educator who has a love of being outside learning in nature and passion and a deep understanding of the visual arts, STEM and play based learning, to join our small community and nature education program which forms an integral part of the mainstream kindergarten program.

Our setting includes a natural outdoor Centre environment with amazing visual arts studios including a clay wheel, authentic art materials, a tool shed, a lilium construction and large and loose parts studios. Our position in the main street of Woombye enables regular excursions to local parks, community garden, bush site and local primary school.

We attend a regular full day Farm and Bush Kinda program. The Bush kindy is in Woombye on a 6 acres location and the farm is located at Kureelpa set on 35 acres these programs provide children with the regular opportunity to have authentic experiences in nature, learning, thinking, and playing outside caring and learning about farm animals and gardens.

Days and hours are set 8.30am to 4.30pm will vary depending on your interest for full or part time work. We offer above award wages and incentives

We are looking for individuals who have the following criteria:

Essential

· A current Working with Children Check

· Driver’s License

· Access to a vehicle

· Physical fitness

· Demonstrated passion and experience in delivering innovative early childhood education, outdoor education and/or environmental education programs.

· Understanding or knowledge of delivering inclusive education that supports all learners, including students with additional needs

· Understanding of working with children who are encouraged to take safe risks in a natural (bush) environment, including but not limited to, the monitoring and management of risk posed by wildlife, weather, fire, intruders, and children’s health issues, as well as ability to assess sites for nature-based learning and play.

· Demonstrated ability and commitment to working collaboratively in a small team.

· Good communication skills and the ability to appropriately converse with children, parents, and other staff.

Desirable

· Experience in delivering outdoor education programs.

· Experience in progressive or alternative approaches to education.

· Demonstrated experience in documentation and program development, and the creative application of the EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework), QKLG (Queensland Kindergarten learning guidelines)

· Demonstrated experience in documentation and program development in a nature-based learning setting.

· Qualification as an Early Childhood educator (Diploma, Early Childhood Teacher, Teacher’s Aide, Primary School Teacher, or Environmental Educator.
