The role

The Infrastructure Architecture team provides IT infrastructure consulting and architecture services to business banners within the Woolworths Group.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Architects design information systems to support the enterprise infrastructure. They ensure that systems are designed to work at optimal levels, and support the development of new technologies and system capabilities. The Infrastructure Architect will:

• Analyze Requirements: Analyze business requirements to identify where new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions can add value.
• Recommend Technologies and Improvements: Technology Insight and Industry awareness. Infrastructure Architects may recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals.
• Lead Design and Review of New Systems: Infrastructure Architects leads the design and review for new systems from an infrastructure perspective. They develop and document the proposed infrastructure high level design for the integration and implementation of any new services, working across the enterprise. This involves the reuse of commodity designs and service offerings where possible, developing and delivering Infrastructure High Level Designs (IHLD) and gaining approval for the Design via the Infrastructure Design Authority (IDA).
• Evaluate Projects: After a new system has been integrated, the Infrastructure Architect participates in evaluating the success of the project, identifying best practices and lessons learned. They provide feedback to leadership and incorporate this information into future integration plans.

Key Requirements

• Previous experience working as an Infrastructure Architect.
• Design and architecture of Public Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS)
• Experience architecting solutions via major Public cloud providers preferably Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Extensive architecture experience in the design and deployment of large centralized and distributed applications from an infrastructure perspective.
• Understanding of networking in large enterprise environments
• Design and architecture of solutions in large distributed environments ie support/regional offices, distribution centres, stores/branches
• Experience working within agile and waterfall project constructs
