Group Forecast Analyst

The Opportunity

Responsibilities

he Forecast Analyst is responsible for the accuracy of forecasts produced by Group Replenishment forecasting systems, in addition to the ongoing maintenance and root cause analysis of the inputs/outputs which may span across:

• Maintaining and optimising key inputs to the forecast systems, e.g. Event markings, event rampup/down curves, demand influencing factors (features) and forecast parameters;
• Statistical Algorithm tuning
• Exception reviews and user selections
• Modelling and determining benefits of new methodologies and forecast algorithm settings

The forecasts produced by these systems form the basis for supply & network planning as well as store and supplier ordering algorithms. The role is crucial in influencing sales and operational outcomes for all Woolworths Group Retail Businesses
Your Core Responsibilities Will Include

• Determine forecast methodologies to accurately predict weekly and daily sales for all products and stores across Woolworths Group trading banners
• Monitor performance/accuracy of forecasting system output – develop robust assessment methodologies and mechanisms to record and benchmark forecast performance against expected results
• Monitor & tune parameters/features ensuring appropriate responsiveness to customer sales behaviour both observed and anticipated. Review forecast output and take action on exceptions
• Gather, extract and manipulate required information to form a fact base for the assessment and modeling of forecast decisions.
• Review existing data & settings changes – model potential changes and identify/quantify improvements
• Assess the accuracy of event features and make adjustments to time, product and location accordingly
• Review and maintain hierarchical priors
• Review of daily forecast drivers to ensure accurate daily forecasts

Who We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role and thrive in our high performance culture, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Strong background in statistics with emphasis on time series analysis, forecasting or other predictive analysis techniques
• Demonstrated ability to write, speak, and present clearly and succinctly across a variety of communication settings by translating and articulating technical concepts to non-technical groups
• Excellent Interpersonal and Relationship skills, involving excellence in building rapport and establishing goodwill with stakeholders of all levels
• Driven to deliver continuous improvement initiatives with the ability to: deliver improvements based on analytical insight, manage communications and changes, and monitor benefits
• Strong technical skills with the ability to administer, construct and manage large data sets and systems for the input to analytical decision making and performance improvement
• Experience with implementing forecasting leading practice principles and activities to improve forecast accuracy, including previous experience using advanced systems and analytical tools
