Woodside Parents’ Nursery School (WPNS) is a California-licensed parent-run cooperative preschool with roots in the Woodside community dating back to its founding in 1973. Position Description:
WPNS provides an environment that nurtures children’s self-esteem, creativity, imagination and a love for learning. We are seeking energetic, passionate, creative, nurturing and team- oriented teachers to join our warm, friendly staff. We will have several open teaching and substitute-teaching positions for the 2022-2023 school year as we look to grow and expand our programs, and are looking for teachers to work between 10 – 30 hours per week:
Our current class schedules are as follows:
Tuesday, Thursday mornings, 8:30-12:00 (students between 9-11:30), teaching a class of two-year-old children; in this class you will teach with one to two other teachers and will have several parent volunteers to assist.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, 8:30-12:30, (students 9-12), teaching a class of three year-old children; in this class you will teach with one to two other teachers and will have several parent volunteers to assist.
Lunch Bunch Program
This program is for our three, four, and five year old children and runs directly after class until 2pm daily
In addition to the hours for each program, teaching teams have 2 hours of team meetings monthly and we have a full staff meeting to learn from each other, and promote team building once per month.
Ideal candidates will have:
· A minimum of 12 core units in ECE
· At least 1 year of teaching experience with children ages 2 to 5 years;
· A strong background and understanding of child development in children ages 2-5
· A strong understanding of social and emotional development in young children
· Knowledge and experience working in a play-based program;
· Experience working at a cooperative preschool;
· A passion for teaching and life-long learning;
· A passion for partnering with parents to nurture their children;
· An innovative, creative, and open mind
· A belief in positive direction and a loving approach to discipline
· An understanding of the importance of using clear, positive statements to guide children

Minimum Qualifications:
· A minimum of 12 core units in ECE
· Physical ability to interact with children, including not limited to: picking up children weighing up to 40 lbs, for example to change diapers or pick up a hurt child, standing for long periods, as well as being able to supervise children, climbing or moving around on the playground equipment to help a child or children, squatting, kneeling and sitting (to be at the child’s level) for short and long periods to allow communication with the
children in an effective manner, intervening as needed if children are in a dangerous situation or having a difficult interaction with another child;
· Up-to-date Immunizations for Measles, Pertussis & Flu (or willingness to get these before beginning work)
· COVID-19 vaccination (or willingness to get before beginning work)
· Negative TB Test (or willingness to get before beginning work)
· Pediatric CPR (or willingness to get before beginning work)
· Fingerprint clearance (or ability to get before beginning work)
· State of California Department of Justice Clearance (or ability to get before beginning work)
Responsibilities:
· Provide responsive, relationship-based care, and create a stimulating and nurturing environment for children to play and explore
· Work with team to develop creative and age appropriate activities and curriculum based on children’s interests
· Build and nurture partnerships with parents, including parent communication and involvement
· Work collaboratively with other teachers, parents, and colleagues
· Conduct teacher/parent conferences once per year
· Perform regular maintenance/cleaning tasks e.g., arranging the classroom and the yard each afternoon and each morning, moving light weight furniture, picking up toys, picking up boxes, emptying the contents, breaking down boxes
· Adhere to procedures related to supervision, boundaries, and safety of children at all times, following mandated reporting requirements as stated by CA licensing and best practices
Compensation is based on education and experience, ranging from $20.00-$30.00; We offer PTO as per California State law and some paid holidays.
