Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Designer for an immediate start to join our Darwin team within our Operations business. This is an initial 12-month contract which is anticipated to be an ongoing assignment, in support of one of our key energy clients.
Wood’s Operations APAC (West) business delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation and technical services to the Oil & Gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with the region’s most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory, Kazakhstan, and Sakhalin.
Reporting to the I&E Design Lead, you will be working as part of our clients’ integrated team, you will assist in developing designs and associated deliverables for brownfields modification projects for Offshore LNG and Oil & Gas assets.

Please note that we are only able to accept applications from Australian citizens or those who currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) and are able to work lawfully in Australia without company sponsorship. Additionally, we are looking for Darwin based applicants or those who would welcome a FIFO (3×1 or 4×1 rotation).
Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally you will have proven experience as an I&E Designer in the Offshore LNG (Power Plants & Utilities), Oil & Gas sectors within an EPCM engineering and maintenance project environment, with both onshore and offshore scope of work engagements.
In addition, you will have:
- Relevant Certificate or suitably qualified by industry experience
- Well-developed computer skills with a good knowledge of at least one CAD system (MicroStation / AutoCAD) as well as a working knowledge of relational databases and spreadsheets
- An ability to interpret and translate I&E engineering concepts into practical designs
- Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn
- Proficient checking skills with ability to work unsupervised and focus on task completion
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Professional demeanour and interpersonal skills
- An ability to maintain composure under pressure, while delivering within a challenging and complex environment
- A “solutions mindset” embracing innovation and an agile approach to delivering the best possible outcomes
What will set you apart will be your proven experience in the production / design of models and associated deliverables using SPI and PDMS software.
You must have full work rights in Australia and currently living in Australia to be considered for this role.
