POSITION PURPOSE
Position provides support to customers, regional managers and sales representatives to identify potential projects that are within the scope of the Wittmann Battenfeld’s Robot & Automation Division. The Applications Sales Engineer must be able to accurately and quickly concept and quote tooling, automation systems and apply standard products such as robots. The position must work hands on with the Engineering department
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. The Applications Sales Engineer will insure all project information required is collected with the assistance of the Regional Sales Managers and Representatives.
2. The position will work with the Applications Engineering department to derive an overall system concept based on the criteria set forth by the customer and the specifics of the application requirements.
3. Applications Sales Engineer will create CAD layouts, drawings and models as required to effectively presenting the system to customers and sales team.
4. Applications Sales Engineer will work with the engineering department to provide quotes/pricing for special robots, tooling and automation systems.
5. Standard products will be applied wherever feasible, any “value added” items that the rep, regional manager or Application Engineer would like to include should be listed as such on the quote.
6. Draft Quotes that will include details of the specific features and benefits of the system.
7. Work with internal Wittmann teams to quote realistic delivery times based not only on the hours in the quotation but also on current and expected workloads.
8. Review all system quotations with the Application Engineering Department, and (based on the size of the project) the Vice President of Robots or President.
9. Based on the size and complexity of the project Applications Sales Engineer may determine that a visit to the customer is required.
10. The Applications Sales Engineer is responsible for keeping accurate documentation on quotes and projects, paper copies as well as email and electronic technical documentation
11. The Applications Sales Engineer will plan and host meetings with customers and internal Wittmann departments to give project updates.
12. Lead a regularly scheduled Automation Project review with Engineering.
13. Will handle multiple RFQs concurrently.
14. Keep current on new products and technology for Wittmann Battenfeld equipment and systems.
15. Maintaining a “Customer Friendly” attitude whenever dealing with customers internal and external.
16. Up to 30% travel.
17. The Applications Sales Engineer will help make budgetary quotes for customers, that qualify, final quotes, solidify projects expectations, responsibilities, and assumptions..
20. Host and Schedule Customer kick off meetings
21. Work with internal teams and customer when Escalation of project issued are needed.
22. Host and schedule customer run off / Wittman Plant acceptance host.
23. Share systems data to Field Technicians.
24. Provide Job costing recap for all managed projects
25. Participate Technical conferences, Webinars, Articles, educational tutorials.
26. Host Application Sales Training for current and new employees.
OTHER DUTIES
1. Perform other duties as assigned.
2. Help Automation production when needed to assemble projects
