Wilkes University invites applicants for an Office Assistant for the Departments of Biology & Earth Systems Science and Chemistry & Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Together there are nearly one hundred and fifty majors, fourteen faculty, and five full-time staff members. In addition to excellent teaching, the departments are particularly dedicated to world-class research and are highly engaged in community outreach.

The successful candidate is responsible for handling the administrative needs of the departments. Specifically :

• Creation of faculty load forms and adjunct pay forms each semester
• Budget monitoring and preparation of miscellaneous financial forms
• Monitor work study student hours through the University’s TimeTrak system
• Assist with various departmental outreach activities throughout the academic year
• Assist faculty with all class needs and faculty development requests
• Facilitate student requests in conjunction with departmental needs
• Ensure department is adequately and efficiently supplied with office supplies
• Keep and maintain office records
• Keep and maintain record of departmental events

Additional skills necessary are excellent oral and written communication skills, computer applications (including social media), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Associate’s degree is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in office management.

Three to five years’ experience in a higher education environment is advantageous. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
