Director of Education

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a school leader who will lead by example, and embrace our mission of “strengthening the well-being of people with disabilities and their families through innovative supports.” We are looking for someone dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students, families and staff.

Successful candidates will exhibit the ability to build relationships with staff & students; the ability to partner with families & the community; and manage multiple priorities while overseeing the overall operations and accountability for Wildwood School.

Requirements:

• Certification: New York State certification as School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School Building Leader (SBL), or School District Leader (SDL) is required.
• Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
• Experience:

Five years experience working at a school for students with disabilities (neurologically impaired learning disabled, or individuals with autism)
At least three years as a school leader

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Leads the strategic planning process for Wildwood School.
• Ensures continuity of curriculum and instruction from admissions to graduation in compliance with the regulations of the NYS Education Department.
• Leads school staff in facilitating partnerships and ongoing communication with students’ families.
• Facilitates and directs School Administration and School Leadership meetings.
• Ensures that the programs, policies and practices are aligned to support the educational needs of the students.
• Oversees the admission, placement, and discharge policies and practices, including a student study process.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with colleges, community organizations, government agencies and school districts to coordinate and enhance educational services.
• Works closely with the Wildwood Executive Management team and stakeholders to plan, develop, and monitor the school budget.
• Prepares oral and written reports for the Wildwood stakeholders
• Participates in Wildwood Agency committees representing the Wildwood School and provides support and innovation for agency wide strategic initiatives.

Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• Familiarity with Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Internet, and Database software.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to write responses to community members; speeches; or other written expressions as needed.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors

Additional Requirements
A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required. Daily access to a vehicle.
Occasional weekend and/or night work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
