Wildsight Golden is a dynamic non-profit whose main objective is to work to maintain biodiversity and healthy human communities in and around our region. We work in partnership with other Wildsight Branches and Wildsight Regional as well as working on strengthening ties with other sector groups in the Community.
Job Description:
Wildsight Golden Branch is looking for an outgoing, well-organized, and dynamic person to assist the Outreach Coordinator and Wildsight Golden with community programs, projects, and events. This is a 30 hour per week, 8-week position that will start on or before July 4, depending on the applicant’s availability.
Under the direction and supervision of the Outreach Coordinator, the successful candidate will help:
– Respond to inquiries from the public and other members of Wildsight
– Assist with the planning and facilitation of community events, celebrations, and fundraisers
– Manage social media and website content, write short articles for local newspapers about ongoing Wildsight Golden programs, projects and events, create posters and sort presentations
– Attend public engagement and outreach events such as the Golden Farmers’ Market
– Support the Branch Manager in ongoing Wildsight Golden campaigns surrounding environmental education and land use planning issues in the community
– Support the Branch Manager in day-to-day operations of the Wildsight Golden office
– Support the Upper Columbia Swallow Habitat Enhancement Project with occasional field days for data collection including 2-3 hrs/week monitoring barn swallow nests
– Support Wildsight programs where required, including but not limited to the summer day camp and invasive plant program as support is needed.

Please note: This position is dependant on Canada Summer Jobs Funding. All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the funder, found on their website (https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/canada-summer-jobs.html) . The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution in Environmental Studies, Geography, Biology, Education or another diploma that has demonstrated relevance. The job’s goal is to educate and inspire youth, visitors and locals to appreciate and understand more about the local mountain environment and sustainable communities. All applicants over 18 must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.
