Wilderness North is Looking for Lodge Dockhand Full Time

Wilderness North is an adventure tourism operator based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Through our fly-in properties along the Albany and Ogoki River watersheds, we offer a variety of exceptional outdoor-centered guest experiences, from traditional fishing trips to adventure tourism. We cater to many different types of guests, all looking for a relaxing stay in the wilderness. We are seeking positive, outgoing, and motivated individuals to serve as dockhands at our remote full-service lodges. Dockhand duties but aren’t limited to: lawn care and basic landscaping on lodge grounds and around guest cabins, refuse collection and disposal, preparing and delivering firewood, cleaning, organizing, and basic maintenance of related equipment and storage facilities, cleaning and preparing boats ensuring they are in good working order and ready for guest use, daily cleaning and maintaining of the fish cleaning house, and assisting lodge guests as required (both on and off dock). Candidates must possess Boater’s License and have at least 3 years of boating experience. Candidates must be able to clean fish.

Candidates should maintain a positive attitude under pressure and exhibit a strong work ethic. The position requires initiative, creativity, flexibility, willingness to take on multiple tasks, and the ability to cheerfully deal with the unexpected. Candidates must be able to think on their feet and are expected to creatively problem-solve and adapt to changing conditions. A valid First Aid certificate and proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Positions run May through September. Candidates must be able to live and work in a wilderness environment as part of a close-knit team. Competitive starting salaries are based on experience and are in addition to room & board.
