Whelan & Curry Construction Services, Inc Hiring for Construction Project Manager/Estimator Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Design-build capabilities and is able to conceptualize building construction, means and methods, and material selections for preparation of conceptual budget estimates.*
• Responsible for designing, drafting, and knowledge of AutoCad and other building design software.*
• Responsible for estimating projects, quantity take-offs, reading blue prints, and soliciting sub-contractor and material quotes.*
• Prepares proposals.*
• Attends and participates in meetings with clients, sub-contractors, and staff.*
• Assists with the transition of project to superintendent of the project.*
• Responsible for general building code knowledge and keeping up with training and knowledge.*
• Prepares purchase orders for building materials.*
• Prepares sub-contractor contracts.*
• Responsible for field measuring of existing building or facilities.*
• Occasionally assists with administrative office procedures, when necessary.*
• Assists with problem resolution on projects and the interpretation of documents.*
• Maintains confidentiality when necessary.*
• Assists with finding project leads and follows up on potential sales.*
• Assists with sub-contractor qualifications.*
• Communicates with subcontractors during bidding, subcontract buy-out and during construction and close-out.*
• Takes accurate notes during meetings with clients, sub-contractors, staff etc. and maintains an organized file for each project.*
• Uses necessary resources to research products and issues related to commercial construction projects.*
• Assist with marketing and advertising tasks when necessary.*
• Willingness to travel alone or with others to project sites and/or existing buildings that may be vacant or occupied. Exercises professionalism, courtesy and safety when working on a clients property.*
• Managing ones own time.*
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.*
• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress s, or cost tracking s.*
• Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes or other regulations.*
• Plan, organize or direct activities concerned with the construction or maintenance of structures, facilities or systems.*
• Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods and materials.*
• Estimate project costs.*
• Estimate project requirements.*
• Involved with several projects at one time from conceptual stage of project to final construction and closeout.*

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, design software, internet software, Microsoft Project, Butler Advantage Software, AutoCad, bid management & project management software, and use a desktop computer, laptop computer, an iPad or similar device(s).

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training:

• Knowledge of building and energy code
• Knowledge of construction methods
• Blue print reading and interpretation
• Architectural design/drafting using AutoCAD or similar software

Certificates and Licenses:

• Valid driver’s license
• OSHA 10 hour

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
Project managers are currently regularly working from home but are expected to adapt to the needs of their projects re: on-site meetings, travel, and certain tasks which must be completed in the office.
