General Manager
Reporting to the Vice President and Senior Vice President, the General Manager oversees and is accountable for the production and operations of the Armtec and Westman Steel facilities in Langley. The General Manager plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the process activities of Production, Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, and Shipping and Receiving team members.
Responsibilities:
Leads sales and production teams in the manufacturing and supply of steel roofing and siding and culvert products
Works with the team members to assist in developing and / or adopting best practices.
Monitors operating conditions and manufacturing schedules on a frequent basis and through contacts with manufacturing, sales and purchasing department and suggests more desirable conditions levels of operations to meet inventory or sales demand.
Drives continuous improvement and identifies clear actions to lower costs and improve efficiencies / productivity.
Ensures compliance to safety regulations and requirements are adhered to according to Company procedures, and Health and Safety Act.
Defines long-term strategic goals to achieve the highest levels of products and service quality, meeting or exceeding customer’s needs and regional goals.
Plans, coordinates and manages all business operations to achieve corporate goals.
Take active interest in trends within the industry.
Sets and clarifies team member performance expectations, standards, and goals/objectives.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in business management or engineering or related field such as project management or operations management.
Minimum 5 years working experience in a progressive leadership role, experience in a manufacturing environment or technically related field. Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Intermediate computer skills (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, WERPs, Internet/Intranet).
Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills.
Working knowledge of production planning, inventory control, supply chain, quality and continuous improvement.
Superior customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to internal and external customers; friendly, outgoing and professional manner
Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
Ability to analyze data and organize it into a presentable format for sharing with business leaders
Apply strategic thinking to business issues and production resource issues, while driving results
