THE BUSINESS
The organisation in question is located in County Durham. They are an SME employer specialising in high volume manufacturing. The client is a values led employer and they have a very healthy & secure order book. The organisation provides a strong support network, but they also provide freedom to the Maintenance Manager to lead, make decisions, influence and cement change. Over the past decade, the organisation has quadrupled their production capacity, they are investing heavily in automation and they operate with a mantra of the continuous pursuit of excellence
THE ROLE
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking a multi-skilled Maintenance Manager who is experienced leading Maintenance Technicians to the achievement of planned & preventative maintenance initiatives and breakdown resolution. You will be key placed to pass on knowledge, provide direction and upskill the competency of Maintenance Technicians across the various shifts. You will lead engineering projects, organise shutdowns, deliver site upgrades, help improve site safety and oversee the completion of day to day maintenance tasks, as well as coordinating breakdowns. The role requires hands on experience, but more so, you will work to develop the competency of teams and share knowledge to increase the capabilities of the Technicians.
Leading a team of multi-skilled Technicians and Supervisors
Coaching and developing teams
Managing planned and reactive maintenance
Delivering maintenance based KPI’s aimed at minimising downtime and improving product quality
Ensuring the successful completion of project work and improvement initiatives (project values upwards of £60M with smaller projects £4M-£5M)
Conducting appraisals, recruitment, training and the overall leadership of the Maintenance team
Running and participating in daily, weekly and monthly meetings
Managing stores and critical spares
Managing outside contractors and ensuring H&S compliance
Identifying and driving continuous improvements methodologies and culture throughout the business
THE PERSON
Minimum 3 years Maintenance Manager experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Time Served – Multi Skilled Maintenance Manager (Electrical or Mechanical bias)
Educated to HNC standard or equivalent
Core skills include Mechanical, Electrical, Management, PLC’s
Proven ability to generate improvements via upskilling the team
Developed understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, conveyors, PLC’s
Ability to capture, record and present management information based on downtime, OEE, PPM’s, etc
Strong computer literacy
Ability to inspire others, lead and develop the capabilities of shift-based maintenance technicians
