Westray Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to work in the Darlington area.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join a major engineering client, based in the Darlington region.

You will utilise your civil engineering knowledge to oversee the design and supervision of the constuction of large storage tanks.

The purpose of the role will be to act as Lead Civil Design Engineer on multi-disciplined engineering projects.

The aim is to ensure the smooth delivery of the works on site.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE?
 

The Role you’d play as a Senior Civil Engineer:

• Design of post-tensioned, reinforced concrete tanks in testing environmental conditions, from concept to completion.
• Prepare feasibility, FEED and technical studies and also involved in the third party review of other contractors’ designs as part of the Project Management Consultants team (PMC).
• Prepare Cost/Time/Resource (CTR) estimates and monitor progress and project budgets.
• Produce economical design solutions for EPC projects, studies and enquiries
• Responsibility for the technical quality of work carried out, performance of personnel within the team and the management of design sub-contracts
• You will be based in Darlington, with a requirement to visit sites and client offices in UK and overseas
• You will be resporting to the section head of civil & structural.

WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION?

Qualifications desirable are:

Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering

Chartered Civil Engineer status, or working towards this (preferable but not essential)
 

Experience required;

Heavy civil engineering design such as oil/gas, bridge design, water retaining structures and nuclear design.

Experience of leading Civil/Structural designers in multi-discipline design teams.

Preparation of technical reports and documents.

Finite element analysis and seismic analysis

Skills and aptitudes;

Good communicator at all levels with commercial and risk awareness

Logical thinker who can time manage and prioritise against a portfolio of multiple projects

Computer literate

Capable of working without supervision

Team management experience

5+ years  experience
Experience in a Senior Civil Engineer role
Based in the Darlington area (or close to)
