Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Executive Director Finance, the Deputy Director Finance is to ensure WSLHD achieves best practice outcomes relating to its financial performance and its’ financial and management reporting obligations, including the provision of high level professional advice to internal and external stakeholders.

In the absence of the Executive Director Finance the Deputy Director Finance will act in this role until the Executive Director returns. Knowledgably represent the Executive Director Finance at any meetings, forums, conferences where necessary.

As a senior member of the Finance and Performance Department this position is responsible for the leadership of the financial, management and revenue accounting services across Western Sydney Local Health District. Ensure a consistency of approach, accuracy and efficiency in financial accounting systems and control across the Local Health District.

Selection Criteria:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance or extensive equivalent experience at a hospital/health related area, coupled with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards as well as a record of ongoing professional development.
  • A full and current membership to a relevant professional accounting body
  • Extensive experience in managing the financial operations of a large and complex Local Health District (or similar body) including an understanding of the current challenges, issues, risks and major cost drivers impacting its’ financial position.
  • Proven success in financial or economic analysis and creditor and debtor management.
  • Well-developed issues management skills with the ability to apply sound judgement and work within tight deadlines in order to respond to sensitive and complex matters
  • Proven financial leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship management, conflict resolution, influencing and negotiating, mentoring, consulting and communicating, both orally and written.
  • Previous experience in project management and conceptual thinking skills
