Job summary

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will prepare and manipulate heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials, and work with coworkers to ensure that the projects are completed. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner. Under general supervision, Heavy Equipment Operators safely operate various equipment including graders, tractors, backhoes, front end loaders, dump trucks, skid steers, etc.

Duties and responsibilities

• Preparing and operating heavy equipment in compliance with the company s operating safety policies and procedures, to ensure the appropriate movement of materials
• Heavy equipment may include trac hoe, trac loader, backhoe, rollers and dozers
• Must ensure ground spotter is present when backing all equipment
• Detect and problems with heavy equipment
• Perform basic preventative maintenance as required
• Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance
• Load and unload equipment and materials from vehicles and trailers
• Ensure company equipment, material and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner
• Complete any required paperwork, ing, and other documentation.
• Adhere to all rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on site
• Meet or exceed company safety standards
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of operation of front-end loader, dozers, graders, compactors or other pieces of heavy equipment required to complete assigned tasks
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
• Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures
• Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures
• A positive attitude, self-motivated, eagerness to learn and a willingness to work hard every day
• An ability to lead by a positive example and a commitment to working as a team
• Attention and commitment to safety and an ability to follow instructions
• Valid Driver s license and clean driving record if assigned to a company vehicle
• Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

Working conditions

• Must be able to accommodate customer needs by working flexible hours which may include weekends

• Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibrations and a wet and /or humid environment

Physical requirements

• Requires walking, sitting, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, grasping, crouching, stooping reaching and repetitive motions to a significant degree
• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
• Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
