We are looking for qualified dyslexic tutors to join our specialist tuition service. We are looking for tutors who have experience in working in a 1:1 setting.
Westcountry SEN is a dyslexia tutoring company. We specialise in supporting students who are in mainstream education and in need of specialist dyslexia interventions. We support students to catch up, remain on track, have greater strategies and gain well-being in the classroom. We also support students who are home-schooled or who are between schools.
Most of our tuition is 1:1, although we do see a small proportion of students in small group settings. We work with all ranges Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Additionally, some tutors provide study skills support for A levels and University students. We appreciate tutors will have their own age ranges and subject preferences; we will support these preferences.
The majority of our tuition covers English and maths across the Key Stages. However, we also provide support for dyslexia students to get through their SATs and 11 / 13 plus exams.
We deliver tuition in person in Shaftesbury Dorset, online using our Westcountry SEN software, in schools and in students’ homes.
We are a specialist company based in Dorset. However, our online reach is throughout the UK. Our online tuition software is dyslexia focused and purpose designed.
A huge portion of our students are seen after school. However, we do have some daytime hours available, which are normally working with home-schooled children or with small groups in schools.
You will have the ability to choose your working hours and days. Pay is negotiable and based on qualifications and relevant experience.

Essential
· Understanding and compassion for dyslexic students
· Level 5 Dyslexia qualifications (or equivalent)
· Ability to work independently and also be able to be a part of an organisation
· Good communication skills
· The ability to ask for help
· The ability to engage students who are hard to reach
· Ability to form supportive relationships with students and their families
· Good professional boundaries
Desirable
· Experience of working with small groups
· An interest in supporting trainees
· An interest in helping with the creation of digital online courses.
This post requires the candidate to hold a current Enhanced DBS, or for the candidate to go through our DBS procedures.
