West Midlands Combined Authority Hiring for Principal IT Specialist at Birmingham Full Time

The Digital and Data team is a high performing team that provides support to the complex multi functions of the WMCA. This role will lead the delivery of the Digital and Data service to WMCA and partners, utilising IT as a business tool to effectively deliver a one stop shop for Digital and Data services, advice and communication across the organization.

What will you be doing?

• Ensure that WMCA core infrastructure is supported and assist in making recommendations for future enhancements
• Develop and maintain a customer service ethos
• Offer 3rd line ICT support to all levels and areas of the business, acting as one of a team of Principal ICT Specialists for escalation on ICT issues
• Responsible for the delivery of the ICT service function to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of ICT business equipment.
• Ensure that operating principles and processes have been adhered to in line with the ICT Strategy, guaranteeing the security and reliability of the corporate network infrastructure
• Ensuring that best practices for ICT cyber security is carried out and adhered to with any noncompliance reported to the Cyber Security Specialist
• Search, identify, and implement solutions based on best practice within the team and ICT Industry and seek specialist technical solutions from both hardware and software suppliers
• Lead/ partake in knowledge transfer where required to members of the Infrastructure Team, in turn ensuring greater resiliency and redundancy
• Work with the Service Transition Team to improve business efficiencies through automation and process refinement

About you

• Virtualization management experience (VMware vSphere)
• Knowledge of scripting technologies, specifically for systems administration (e.g. PowerShell, VB, .Net) for SharePoint, Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft 365 Technology Stack, SharePoint 2013, SharePoint Online, design, configuration, and administration experience
• Experience with Microsoft SQL database administration, (2008/2008 R2,2012 & 2016)
• Prior utilisation of Windows Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
• Technical experience of diagnosing & resolving ICT issues to an advanced level

West Midlands Combined Authority operates a Hybrid way of working. This means splitting your time between the office at 16 Summer Lane, and working remotely.
