Are you a HR Professional with experience of leading a HR Service Centre? Do you want to set up a new service centre and be part of a new journey?
The WMCA is looking for a HR Service Centre Manager to join it’s growing HR Team. This is a new role which will implement and manage a new proactive and customer focussed HR Service Centre
Reporting to the Head of HR, you’ll be responsible for leading, implementing and delivering a new HR Service Centre across the organisation. Your team will be made up of HR Advisors and HR Assistants and is part of the wider HR team which includes HR Business Partners, Resourcing and OD&E.
Your new role will enable you to build something new and really embed an effective first line HR service for the organisation. You’ll lead, coach and develop your team and ensure you are providing effective advice to managers and staff.
What will you be doing?
Lead and drive the operational performance of service excellence through the management, development and implementation of all people processes
Redevelop and streamline processes based on lean methodology to ensure an accessible, straightforward and digital approach for the user
Work collaboratively with the Head of HR and HR Business partners to set up an HR Service Centre operation for the Combined Authority
Lead and motivate Service Centre Staff, ensuring behaviours and attitudes reflect appropriate professional standards of West Midlands Combined Authority values
Develop, implement and embed key performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements
Lead, manage and motivate the HRSC team of HR Advisors and HR Assistants to achieve all HRSC targets
Support and coach the HR Advisors to ensure ER casework and employee lifecycle activities are managed effectively

About you
We’re looking for a HR professional who has experience of managing a transactional team and understands how to deliver a process-based service to your customers.
You’ll need knowledge of employment law and employee life cycle processes and be confident giving advice to managers, staff and your team.
A leader who can coach and develop a new team and ensure they are delivering a value add service is essential. You’ll be comfortable working in a transactional environment and thrive on taking real ownership of your team and the service it provides.
You’ll have a flexible approach and understand the importance of working collaboratively across the HR team. No two days will be the same and will need a calm, resilient individual who can manage multiple priorities and deliver an excellent HR service.
