West Chester Friends School (PA) seeks a dynamic, full-time Science teacher for grades K-5. Founded in 1836, West Chester Friends School (WCFS) is an independent Quaker elementary school, serving approximately 150 students from age three through 5th grade. WCFS is located in the heart of historic West Chester; its four buildings are nestled between the West Chester Monthly Meeting House and the Hickman Home. The school is accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools.

Essential Duties:

• Developing and teaching the scope & sequence of the Science curriculum, K-5th grade
• Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials that meet the needs of all students
• Monitors and evaluates student outcomes through qualitative and quantitative assessment practice
• Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and policies
• Maintains regular reporting to parents through parent conferences, parent conference notes, and progress reports
• Implements social-emotional learning routines and practices aligned with Quaker education, best practices in self-regulation and character development
• Serves on committees
• Participates in shared student supervision duties including daily lunch and recess with students, and arrival/departure processes
• Collaborates extensively with other teaching faculty within the Division
• Attends regular faculty meetings as well as Meetings for Worship, Back-to-School Night, and other required events during the day and occasionally on evenings and weekends

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; experience preferred
• Candidates with experience in independent, public, charter, or parochial schools and from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,288.00 – $43,706.00 per year
