Software Automation Engineer


Salary: £42,000 – £51,000 per annum dependent on experience


Hours: 35 hours per week


Contract: Permanent

Location: Hybrid Working

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Software Automation Engineer to join our Test team. Working as part of a team or individually, you will perform all tasks involved in the design, installation, execution and maintenance of the functional automated suite. You will be responsible for improving the efficiency of test execution during test cycles and ensuring best practice in the use of software tools within the Testing Team.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with the Test Manager, identify testing scenarios suitable for automation
  • Develop, maintain and execute the automated regression packs
  • Prepare training and user documentation for other Testing Team resources
  • Alongside the Test Manager, progress resolution of any failures following the defect management process and report in a timely manner
  • Work with the Test Manager to standardise development & version control of the automated suite
  • Work with the Test Manager and the business to advise regularly on test execution and obtain sign off based on test evidence

Skills and Attributes:
You will have at least 2 years’ experience of working with building UI and REST automation as an automation engineer (or SDET) doing automation work on a day to day basis. You will also have experience of:

  • Selenium WebDriver
  • SpecFlow or other Gherkin Framework experience
  • C#/.NET
  • Object Oriented software design principles
  • SQL – ability to understand and write queries
  • Version control using Git or other version control system

You will have strong attention to detail and be able to organise your workload to meet required deadlines.
