A fixed term post within the Education Welfare and Safeguarding Service has become available for an Education Welfare Officer (EWO) to work with Ukrainian children and families within West Berkshire.
A new and exciting post, the post holder will visit the families on a regular basis, supporting the children into new schools and liaising with the family, schools and any other agency as appropriate.
A committed team worker, the post holder will carry a caseload and work on their own initiative. Time management skills are essential given the variety of this challenging yet rewarding role.
We are looking for somebody who has a good understanding of schools and who wants to help improve children’s life chances; a commitment to safeguarding children is essential.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
