About the role

This exciting position entails supporting children and young people in foster care to achieve their educational potential. You would be working one-to-one with a range of students, providing school support and out-of-school tutoring. You will also be co-ordinating a team of educational mentors and offering direct support to case managers and foster carers.

Essential criteria

• tertiary qualifications in Education
• understanding of the educational needs of children in out-of-home care
• experience in working with children with behavioural difficulties
• high-level of oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences
• proven ability to deliver successful outcomes through consultation and negotiation
• current unrestricted driver’s licence.

Desirable criteria

• qualifications in Special Education
• experience in teaching children in out-of-home care.

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award 2010.
